What we must do for Nigeria now, by Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

What Nigeria as a nation needs now is prayer for Divine intervention. A lot has happened in the nation and a lot is still happening. The kind of prayer that Nigeria needs is the sincere kind of prayer that saved her from  falling, dividing and that aid the preservation of many lives and properties which would have been destroyed during or after 2015 general election. The atmosphere was full of fear, lives were seriously in danger and tensions were very high. However, the sincere prayer of the righteous, made  God to disapoint Satan, those planing the fall or division of Nigeria and those armed and ready to destroy the lives and properties of Nigerians, especially, the weak and the poor.

It has come again the atmosphere of fear, lives are in danger, the atmosphere highly tensed up, therefore, another since prayer for God's intervention is seriously needed. The Bible said that, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand watch in vain" (Psalm 127:1). The case of Nigeria is so bad that:
1. The watchmen are no longer watching.
2. Most of the watchmen are part of the threat to lives and properties which they are meant to watch over.
3. The builders are no longer building.
4. Most builders are now destroying the already built part of the nation.

A lot of killing, kidnapping and many other social vices that are threat to the lives and properties of Nigerians are seriously going on in the nation, just because, the watchmen and builders have refused or have declined to/from doing their work. This means that God is the only hope for the nation, since the watchmen are no longer watching and the builders are no longer building. We must pray fervently and sincerely for God to come down, help and deliver Nigeria from the sociopolitical, religeo-political and economic crisis that have befallen the nation and the greater ones that intend to befall her. That it is not happening in your area, or has not affected your state or tribe, does not mean that it is not happening. It does not mean that it will never reach you, your state or tribe. This is a serious moment In the live of the nation, when grammar and political jargons can no longer help matters. Hoping on the united nations and/or world powers cannot help, it will only amount to medicine after death. We are no longer safe in the nation, God is the only salvation we have, hence we must consult and run to him.

In first Timothy, 2:1-7 God through Apostle Paul charged us with these words "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and Thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings (Presidents) and all those in authority (Executive, Legislature and Judiciary arms of government- both state and federal levels), that we may live peaceful and quite lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our saviour who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men- the testimony given in its proper time. And for this purpose I (Apostle Paul) was appointed a herald (A messenger, especially one bringing important news)  and an apostle- I am telling the truth, I am not lying- and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

As Christians or faithful followers of Christ, it is our sole duty to pray for our leaders, especially, our political leaders. We need to pray sincere and effective prayer; we need to ask God to protect our nation Nigeria and protect us in it. God should arrest and frustrate those who cause and are involved in political, religious, social and economic war, rancor or conflict. God should give the present leaders the ability to govern the nation with wisdom, love, care and value to lives and properties, listening ears, justice and the spirit of carrying all Nigerians along, in their remaining tenure. Another effective prayer we need to make is concerning the coming 2019 general election. We need to pray for God to disappoint all the spiritual and human agents that have plan to destroy Nigeria, lives and properties. Those who will use the election as a means of wasting innocent blood, destroy properties and divide the peace, progress and the unity of the nation. In this coming 2019 general election, we need to ask God to give Nigeria a president that will be a loving and caring father to Nigerians, especially to the weak and the poor. And in all the arms of government, from state to federal level, God should give us leaders who will represent all Nigerians, not just themselves and their families. Leaders who are not greedy and selfish, but selfless, loving, caring and with the need of the people at heart. We should also pray for God to avert anything that will cause war, or better still, civil war again in the nation. Let 2019 general election come and go peaceful with the candidates "after God's own heart" emerging as leaders in Nigeria. Let God give us righteous men and women as leaders. As the Bible said, when a righteous man is on the throne, the people rejoice; but when the wicked is on the throne, the people suffer. We have suffered a lot in the nation. Let God give us righteous men and women, so that we will rejoice and suffer no more.

Right now, let us sincerely get on our knees for this is where victory is won and very soon we will see the victory if we pray on with faith and sincerity. God bless Nigeria! Amen!

COVID-19, a Means of Exploitation by Nigerian Politicians

This young man who is probably a  pastor has vomited his heart on the happenings in Nigeria, especially, over the issue of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.  He condemned the Nigerian politicians whom he accused have turned COVID-19 into a business venture. He pointed out that it took Nigeria Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)  many months to distribute voters card to Nigerians, but they have claimed to have distributed millions of nairas to Nigerians within few days. He asked how possible is that. He also asked who among Nigerians did they distribute the money to, and confessed that the said money did not reach him. He asked Nigerians who among them received the money, of course, I did not receive the money myself, not yet.

NIGERIA MUST BEWARE OF THIS

Irrespective of the political and other leadership corruption in Nigeria, Nigeria has strived in the area of morals and some level of the fear of God. This can be seen in her effort to reject gay marriage or relationships (homosexuality and lesbianism) and rejection of the motion to scrap out religious studies in the educational system of Nigeria. Before now, natural and manmade disasters were stories and strange phenomena in Nigeria. Though there was the presence of robbery or armed robbery, theft, money laundry, kidnapping, and ritual; but terrorist attacks and bomb explosions were not common in Nigeria before now. Today, bomb explosions, terrorist attacks, murder, and a high rate of kidnapping have become the order of the day. Flood is becoming common in Nigeria; a good number of different kinds of deadly and contagious diseases often hit Nigeria claiming lives and properties. Suffering, poverty, and chronic hunger that face Nigerians on a daily basis have been blamed on recession
