Academic Stumbling Block for Art Students

Stumbling Block for Art Students. Some things appear logical, professional and the right thing to do. However, these things that appear logical, professional and the right thing to do, most times turn out to become error, unnecessary, and a big stumbling block to the success of people, state, or nation. I have tried to balance the relationship between Mathematics and art students, especially at the secondary school level for a long period of time, but each time I try to do that, I discover that both are in a parallel line and cannot meet. They are like placing two contradictory ideas in the same line of a poem, story, or sentence.  I so much agree with the secondary school system which exposes students in senior secondary school one (SSS1) to all senior secondary school subjects, which include both science and art subjects. However, I do not see the reason why science subjects; especially Mathematics, should be made compulsory for art students who have very little or no need or use for

Issues that Lingered between Jesus of Nazareth and the Sanhedrin, Part One by Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

After the death of Jesus, the Sanhedrin (Council of the Jews) led by the High Priest, were relieved. They thought that everything about Jesus and His disciples was over and forgotten, just like every other "claimed Messiah" that came before Him. In the first place, the person and the ministry of Christ shook them a lot. They were afraid to loose the people to His ministry. They were highly disturbed that they were going to loose their value and respect before the people, which they believed that Jesus and His ministry would cause them. In fact, they did everything possible to ensure that the people will never believe in Jesus as Christ or Messiah. This was why they were very happy to hand Jesus over to Pontus Pilate to be crucified. When Jesus was on the cross, it was like a dream come through for them, "Finally, we will regain our glory, the peoples' trust, fear and respect", they believed. In the midst of this relief, they realized that Jesus said He would

Nigerian Youths are Lazy

Nigerian Youths are Lazy! Nigerian youths are the most hard working youths I have ever seen. It is mostly in Nigeria that one sees the youths struggling on their own, and most times succeed without the help or assistance of their government. Take myself for instance, I have been a graduate since 2014, served since 2015, yet till now no government job. Since then till now, I have been struggling on my own to succeed without being involved in any illegal or criminal act. With my pen and paper, working with private organization where I earn undeserved insults and payment. Yet I still endured, determined and resolved to continue struggling, being committed and hard working until I make head way in life without denting my image, that of my family and the nation as a whole. I believe and know that there are thousands and millions of youths like me, who are determined and are struggling to succeed without being involved in any form of crime. But it is heart breaking and killing to hear th

Too many Women, too many Wealth by Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

It has been a thing of wonder, why men, especially in time past marry many wives and have numerous children. This primitive act, though still obtainable in some cultures or tribes, was as a result of so many reasons. To one tribe it is religious to have many wives and children, to others, it is cultural, or traditional; but to Igbo's it cut across religion and tradition but also serves as means of being wealthy, having or making wealth and also stands as a sign that one is a wealthy man. In the ancient Igbo culture and tradition, a great man was known either by his strength as a great warrior, who had led or followed his clan or village to war, conquer, return alive and victoriously, or was known by his possession or wealth. Not Everyman in the ancient Igbo land was a warrior, though it was rare, yet, some men in the ancient Igbo land did not fight war for their clan or village. Therefore, one of the vital and most popular ways men became great in the ancient Igbo land was by th

Why the Super Eagles of Nigeria Concealed 100 Goals Against India National Team By Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

There are stories, better still, legends or myths that have become very popular today, that so many people have believed and accepted them as history or true life story. Some of these stories have lingered and survived centuries. This may be because of the fact that they are passed from generation to generation. The old passed them to the young and the young passed them to their younger generation. And at a point, they cease from being superstitious stories, legends or myths, but as part of history and culture. One of these stories which has lingered for long now, is the story on how the Super Eagles of Nigeria concealed one hundred (100) goals from India National Team, which led to the bound of India National Team from FIFA World Cups. When I was a little boy, I was told that at a certain FIFA football match in a certain year, all unknown, the Super Eagles of Nigeria was to play against India National Team. During this unknown year, Nigeria was feared for the skillful goal keeper t
