The Game Politics in the Nation by Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

The Game Politics in the Nation
Vocabularies and political jargons are now the cover up of the unbearable, unthinkable and unbelievable corruption and menace going on in the political system and leadership of Nigeria today. So many trust have been lost, hopes shattered, souls left in despair and lives interned or entombed as a result of the faith and believe citizens placed on so many political parties and her presidential candidates. So many patriotic citizens of the nation, who will not go contrary to the laws of the land, who will hardly speak against their nation or carry out any violent act against her, because of their love for the nation and fear (Reverence or Love) of/for God, are almost fed up, totally disappointed and are at the point of giving up hope and trust they have for their nation. These patriotic citizens are at this point pleading with God to send us a Messiah (Saviour) or come down by Himself to deliver the nation the way He delivered Israel from the oppressing hands of the ancient Egypt.

In every normal nation, not just only in the developed world, there are usually the rich, average and the poor. Also called the Upper class, Middle class and Lower class citizens. But in Nigeria, there are no middle class citizens, what we have are the "Extremely Rich" (Bourgeoisie) and the "Absolutely Poor" (Proletariat) citizens, also called the Most Upper class and Most Lower class citizens. This implies that the poor masses who are over 70% of the nation live below poverty margin. While microscopic few who are less than 30% of the nation and of political cadre continue to highjack and partition among themselves the wealth, health and power of the nation to the laberitain bind and detriment of the poor masses. When confronted, there is always a grammatical vocabulary and political jargon to confuse the masses with and clear their names in the air. What a pitiable pessimism, regrettably lugubrious and religious effluvial?

I do not believe that being inhuman, uncompassionate, selfish, dubious and brutal are ways of becoming a better or unique leader or person. The pain of a betrayed trust is as the same as the pain of loosing a beloved one. Good citizens of this nation have trusted so many political parties, put our hopes on them and voted them in because of their perfect, highly convincing and constructive speech, full of heavenly promises, well grammatized and garnished with encyclopedic vocabularies and political jargons. But how heart hurting and killing that after all the said and done, citizens as usual ends up being highly disappointed and frustrated? It is funny and at the sometime highly obnoxious that a political party in power will fail the nation and blame their failure on the past government. The need for new government, especially, from new political party is that the citizens felt and believed that they needed positive change, a better government that will correct the menace in the nation and better the standard of living, especially, of the poor and less privilege. Knowing these desires of the masses, more of the poor and less privilege, political parties took advantage of the situation to make thousands of promises on how to meet and/or solve these needs, only to come into power to disappoint the trust placed on them. We are tired of hearing of the corruption and other menace in the nation. We know there are menaces in the nation, we are also aware that the past governments or political parties have caused lots of menace. We know all that and have become sick and tired of having political parties in power repeating them to us every now and then, which have become excuse to justify their failure in governance. What we want and the reason we surrendered our power of vote is to have the political parties we've been voting into power to solve the menace and put the nation and her citizens back on the right pace of life and existence. Nigeria is not the only country with multi-ethnic groups still living together in peace and prosperity. Someone has rightly said that God has not cursed Nigeria. Our suffering is caused by our leaders, especially, political leaders.

There is recession in the land, no money in the nation we are told everyday, yet, our leaders, especially, political leaders are still buying cars, jets, lands and building houses both in and outside the nation with millions of dollars and nairas. They continue living in an extremely luxurious lives, flying in and out of the country as if they are going to the backyard; throwing expansive parties and spending on so many unnecessary things. Contracts worth billions are being awarded by politicians to politicians, as usual, the rich continue to be richer and the poor continue to be poorer. It is time we become truthful to ourselves, care how others feel, serve the nation and her citizens sincerely without "eye-service" and the "I don't care" attitude. It is time our political leaders develop the spirit of compassion and humanity toward those they lead, especially, the poor and less privilege. It may sound funny and impossible, still, there are many citizens of Nigeria who find one square meal a day "impossible". There are people who don't have a roof over their head and many who find life very difficult in their fatherland where they should find comfort and happiness.

Is it not funny that in the nation, ministers of defence have their family members living outside the country? What this means is that the nation they are to defend and the citizens they are to protect are not safe and secure. Knowing this quite well, they send their families to the countries that can guarantee their nation and citizens, even visitors security. The question becomes, why not make their nation like those nations they run to for security in matters of defence and  as ministers of defence? Is it not disheartening that ministers/commissioners of education have their children studying abroad? This means that under their watch and supervision, the educational system of the nation is nothing to write home about. Knowing this quite well, they send their children to study abroad where education is at its best because they want the best for their children, but don't care about the system, progress and the betterment of the education of their own citizens, especially, those who can barely afford education in Nigeria let alone abroad. The question becomes, why not bring home the quality education they saw abroad for the citizens of their nation? Our politicians, even the number one citizen of the nation will fall ill and fly outside the country for treatment. This answers the question of why most of our hospitals are dilapidated. The rich who are people or the class that matters in the nation fly out for medical check up and treatment. So, who will they equip the hospitals for? Is it the poor or less privilege who can barely afford the cost of the nation's hospitals even at its dilapidated state? Since the upper class that matters has no interest or concern on our national hospitals, why will it be made sophisticated; of cause, the hospitals will remain poor since they are for the poor people of the nation. However, the truth remains that our government has everything it takes to make our education, national security and hospitals one of the best in the entire world. But greed, segregation, religeopolitical hatred and misconception and lack of the proper implementation of democracy have been the continuous factors affecting and hindering our government (past and present) from given Nigerians the Paradisical Promised Land, which they are promised for so many decades now.

Our leaders have loot this country and the poor masses so much. It will be just like a dream to ask them to return the wealth they have stolen to the nation. However, there are ways they can still reinvest in the nation. Apart from the pain and other economic problems and setbacks looting has caused this nation, another painful thing is that our leaders who loot this nation do not invest the money or wealth they stole from the nation in the nation to aid economic, infrastructural and other development of the nation. Rather, they loot the nation to invest in other countries of the world, thereby developing the countries, while Nigeria and Nigerians continue to wallow in poverty, fruitless struggle and economic setback. This is the mother of all crimes in the nation- stealing, arm robbery, kidnapping, insurgence, and the spirit of "Man must survive" syndrome, which are growing in greater percentage in the nation. We talk of fighting corruption, the truth is that, for there to be sincere and proper fight against corruption, political corruption and/or menace must be remedied. The poor and the desperate masses who are used by political elites as machineries to cause the menace must be liberated from the laberitain bind of poverty and desperation. By giving them a sense of belong in areas of wealth, health and security. When the masses, especially the youths and/or young people are liberated from academic, financial and job seeking slavery, they will cease to be instrument in the hands of most political, traditional and religious leaders who uses them as instrument of havoc and other religeopolitical menace. Our political leaders can reinvest in the nation, they can establish or sponsor Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) that are solely meant to alleviate the suffering of the masses. They can build and equip hospitals were Nigerians, especially the poor masses can be adequately treated of their illnesses free of charge. They can build companies and industries in Nigeria for Nigerians, where average Nigerians can comfortably work to earn a reasonable living. They can also look for gifted and talented poor Nigerians, help them build, develop and turn the gifts and/or talents to profits, among others. When these and more like them are properly done in the nation, it will reduce or even eradicate all kinds or forms of corruption, insurgence, and other religeopolitical crisis or menace.

We should be aware that when there is a problem in the nation, it affects all citizens of the nation- whether rich or poor. If it does not affect your life, it can affect your wealth, if it does not affect your wealth, it can affect your image, reputation or integrity. Directly or indirectly, the problem will affect all. This is why we must stop the "I don't care" spirit or behaviour, and feel what others are going through, then join hands together to build Nigeria to become a desired Promised Land indeed for "All" Nigerians; tribe, religion and culture apart.
God Bless Nigeria!

COVID-19, a Means of Exploitation by Nigerian Politicians

This young man who is probably a  pastor has vomited his heart on the happenings in Nigeria, especially, over the issue of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.  He condemned the Nigerian politicians whom he accused have turned COVID-19 into a business venture. He pointed out that it took Nigeria Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)  many months to distribute voters card to Nigerians, but they have claimed to have distributed millions of nairas to Nigerians within few days. He asked how possible is that. He also asked who among Nigerians did they distribute the money to, and confessed that the said money did not reach him. He asked Nigerians who among them received the money, of course, I did not receive the money myself, not yet.

NIGERIA MUST BEWARE OF THIS

Irrespective of the political and other leadership corruption in Nigeria, Nigeria has strived in the area of morals and some level of the fear of God. This can be seen in her effort to reject gay marriage or relationships (homosexuality and lesbianism) and rejection of the motion to scrap out religious studies in the educational system of Nigeria. Before now, natural and manmade disasters were stories and strange phenomena in Nigeria. Though there was the presence of robbery or armed robbery, theft, money laundry, kidnapping, and ritual; but terrorist attacks and bomb explosions were not common in Nigeria before now. Today, bomb explosions, terrorist attacks, murder, and a high rate of kidnapping have become the order of the day. Flood is becoming common in Nigeria; a good number of different kinds of deadly and contagious diseases often hit Nigeria claiming lives and properties. Suffering, poverty, and chronic hunger that face Nigerians on a daily basis have been blamed on recession

What we must do for Nigeria now, by Nwoko Solomon Ikechukwu

What Nigeria as a nation needs now is prayer for Divine intervention. A lot has happened in the nation and a lot is still happening. The kind of prayer that Nigeria needs is the sincere kind of prayer that saved her from  falling, dividing and that aid the preservation of many lives and properties which would have been destroyed during or after 2015 general election. The atmosphere was full of fear, lives were seriously in danger and tensions were very high. However, the sincere prayer of the righteous, made  God to disapoint Satan, those planing the fall or division of Nigeria and those armed and ready to destroy the lives and properties of Nigerians, especially, the weak and the poor. It has come again the atmosphere of fear, lives are in danger, the atmosphere highly tensed up, therefore, another since prayer for God's intervention is seriously needed. The Bible said that, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the
